Securing this particular chest requires careful navigation, stealthy key acquisition, and a clever environmental trick.
Finding the House of Wisdom Location
The House of Wisdom serves as a major intellectual hub situated near the western edge of the city. Players exploring this grand estate can spot the gear chest stored high inside the prominent central tower. Using Eagle Vision near the upper levels quickly highlights the locked chamber containing the loot.
Reaching the tower requires bypassing guards positioned along the surrounding rooftops and courtyard walkways. Stealth approaches through high foliage and climbing scaffolding allow players to reach the locked entrance undetected. Once outside the tower chamber, inspecting nearby clues reveals that a key is required to gain entry.
Tracking Down the Astronomical Key
To open the locked door, players must search for an astronomer wandering the upper rooftop platforms nearby. Scouting with Enkidu highlights the key holder in green robes walking along the northern or eastern terrace stairs. Approaching quietly from behind allows players to pickpocket the Astronomical Library Key without alerting nearby guards.
With the key acquired, returning directly to the locked door allows access into the lower section of the tower. However, entering the room reveals an additional obstacle blocking access to the upper level where the chest rests. A second environmental step is necessary to open the path above.
Solving the Tower Chandelier Puzzle
Before ascending inside the tower, players must launch themselves up the exterior scaffolding using a nearby lift. Navigating around the outer ledge leads to an open window overlooking the interior room. Activating Eagle Vision through this opening highlights a fragile pulley string holding up a heavy hanging chandelier.
Throwing a knife through the window destroys the pulley support and drops the chandelier onto explosive pots below. This blast instantly breaks open the ceiling barrier, opening up a direct climbing path. Players can then enter through the main door, climb the ladder, and claim their valuable equipment reward.
